About the STGC


The A. E. Church of St. Thomas Gospel Choir is a one bodied, one spirit, Christ centered music ministry that spreads the gospel and edifies Jesus Christ through music.


The St. Thomas Gospel Choir’s members currently consist of 60, spirit filled, energetic, and anointed musical ambassadors of song. With evangelism being a very important factor in the choir’s ministry, the St Thomas Gospel Choir shares their music ministry at over 100 services, programs, concerts and celebrations every year.


Some of the choir’s ministry highlights include:

• STGC are recent winners for the PHL Live Event held in Philadelphia as the 2016 Best in the Philadelphia Area in Gospel Music Category, Traveling to Memphis, TN in June of 2016 for the Rhythm of Gospel Awards and winning 2 awards (Traditional CD of the Year and Producer of The Year) and also ministering at the Historic Calvary Episcopal Church Memphis, TN.


• The Installation of Bishop Daniel G. P. Gutierrez, the 16th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania.


• The Washington National Cathedral for the Installation of the Presiding Bishop Michael Curry, the 1st African American presiding Bishop for the Episcopal Church and installation of Katherine Jefferts Schori, the 1st female Presiding Bishop for the Episcopal Church.


• Ministering at the Installation services of Rev. Betsy Ivey, Fr. Angelo Wildgoose and Fr. Isaac Bonney.


• Winning 1st Place at the Northeast Regional competition for Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and also winning the Hope Line Award in 2013.


• Ministering at the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses (NCGCC) for their Annual Founders Day held in New Orleans, LA.


• Regularly sings at The Barnes Foundation, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Constitution Center.


• STGC was featured during the historic moving of the Liberty Bell to its new pavilion.


• The private unveiling of the original Emancipation Proclamation.


• The STGC was selected to make a cameo appearance in Ralph Celestin’s movie "Boston2Philly".


• STGC took part in the stage play "The Events" held at the Annenberg Theater.


• Sings on the soundtrack for Lee Daniel’s movie, “The Woodsman".


• Sang the English version of "Yes We Made It" for the Russian Kikoriki movie "Team Invincible".


• Was in the mass choir formed for “Gospel Music in the Park” at the Mann Music Center.


• Sang the national anthem for the "Episcopal Church Night" for the Philadelphia Phillies.


• STGC was the featured choir for the National Episcopal Youth Event, held at Villanova University and the guest choir for the 40th

 Anniversary Celebration for the Ordination of Women held at the National Cathedral.


• STGC has been featured on CBS 3 Talk Philly as well as ABC and Chasing News.


• Chosen 300 ministries, several nursing homes, churches, schools, synagogues, weddings, funerals, festivals and celebrations of

 all kind are just a few of the local venues STGC have taken part in.


STGC has traveled for several ministry trips to include trips to:

Memphis, TN, New Orleans, LA, Culpepper, VA, Orlando, FL, Charleston, SC, Charlotte and Hendersonville, NC, Richmond, VA, Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC, Brooklyn and Queens, New York, Delray Beach, Boca Raton and Miami in Florida, San Jose and Limon in Costa Rica are just a few of the many places STGC have ministered at over the past years.


STGC Music Recordings:

The music ministry of STGC has already reached thousands of thirsty souls and continues to reach many more. STGC released full music compilation CD’s in 2003, “Worship & Praise”, 2006, “The Anointing Makes the Difference”, “Glorious Is Thy Name”, 2009 and re-released in 2015 and their 4th “Jesus” released in 2015.


Upcoming highlights for the choir include:

  • The Philly POPS Orchestra, Holiday POPS "2017 Christmas Spectacular" Concerts at The Kimmel Center in Philadelphia.
  • A concert in February 2017 at the Gordon Center in Owings Mill, MD with Frank Entwisle and Orchestra.
  • Their annual Palm Sunday Concert and Fellowship held at St Thomas Church.
  • 25th Anniversary Celebration in April with many esteemed guests and performers at the Hilton Hotel in Philadelphia.
  • A concert at The Barnes Foundation Museum in June 2017.


The St Thomas Gospel Choir is excited and anticipates what God has in store for them as they celebrate their 25th year of music ministry. The STGC’s goal is to always whole heartedly give OUR GOD an "AWESOME PRAISE"!
